My good friend Sam has been part of CrossFit since the early days: And by “early” I mean when CrossFit was in a small corner of a Jiu Jitsu Academy a block from the Santa Cruz ocean. Sam continues to lead by example and inspire others with his good humor, brilliant athletic programming and keen attention to detail.–Greg Amundson

Sam is available for CrossFit training, athletic development, and sports specific strength and conditioning.

John Bourgeois was the first student at the first class when CrossFit Los Gatos opened its doors in January 2009 and he hasn’t looked back since.  He is a CF-L1 certified trainer, with specialty certifications in Barbell and Olympic Lifting.  John has a B.S. and an M.S. in biology, and his teaching experience includes human anatomy to nursing students.  A lifetime of athletics has taken him through soccer, martial arts, barbell strength training, and now to CrossFit.  Although relatively new to CrossFit, John has seen personal gains far exceeding the results produced by over 20 years of more traditional strength training.

John thoroughly enjoys teaching and believes it is imperative that exercise be made a high priority.  Exercise, when woven into our lives, becomes an integral part of who we are and results in better health and a higher quality of life.  The community aspect and efficacy of CrossFit exemplify this ideal.  John is a part time trainer and works professionally as a wetland ecologist specializing in habitat restoration projects around San Francisco Bay.  He is also very active in the community and have been a member of the Los Gatos planning commission since September 2005.  In his spare time he also enjoys surfing, hiking and yoga.
